SEDIBENG.- Sedibeng Ster Sport has learned that Pitso Mosimane has approached former Bafana Bafana dreadlocked midfielder, Augustine “Mthakathi” Makalakalane to offer him a Technical Director (TD) position for his school’s soccer project, in Sedibeng.

This was confirmed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by Makalakalane who is of the opinion that this appointment will restore the development of football in Sedibeng. Makalakalane will be joined by other former soccer players whom Mosimane recruited for his school soccer project.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Makalakane said he feels honoured to be approached by Mosimane to be part of his school soccer project. He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that this appointment will benefit the development of football in Sedibeng. Makalakalane is one of the first players to have played abroad, he spent ten years of his football career in Zurich. When he returned to South Africa, he joined Mamelodi Sundowns and became a player-assistant coach under the late Ted Dumitru. This was before he joined Black Leopards, and later SAFA appointed him as Banyana Banyana coach. To add to his knowledge for football, Makalakalane is part of SAFA Coaches Instructors.
“I’m really humbled and at the same time looking forward to share my experience with those who I will be working with. I have no doubt that this is going to benefit the development of football here in Vaal.
“It is a shame that we don’t even have a team that plays in the ABC Motsepe League as we speak. Now our football is about first team and tournaments and as the results of this we neglect the development of our football,” he said.
