Paying homage to the masters soccer teams

"They must use their powers to benefit our community, especially those who are from disadvantaged backgrounds".

SEDIBENG.- There is an old adage that says: “give credit where it is due!”, hence TOUCHLINE is going to do the same with a legendary based football, Continental FC.

Recently Conti FC under the leadership of Kenneth “Conti” Kubheka took it upon themselves to donate brand-new school shoes to the Magasela Primary School in Evaton North. For that, TOUCHLINE wants to pay homage to the club for being consistent in helping learners from disadvantaged families. However, it is important to note, that it is not only Conti Masters who are involved in the school shoes project, other Sedibeng masters’ soccer teams at some point came together to donate school shoes to local schools.

To make it interesting, the school shoes project came after TOUCHLINE criticized masters soccer teams for their lack of interest in the development of football, the only thing that they knew was ‘boozing’ after they had played their social games.  Some of them took this as an insult while others took it as constructive criticism and they started this school shoe project initiative, and as they say, the rest is history.

It was pleasing to see the kids fitting their shoes, and tears rolled down my cheeks to see how much they appreciated this.

In the past, some of us used to travel a long distance to go to school barefooted nogal, and no one cared. It was normal for us to go to school barefooted by then, hot or cold, winter or summer. Thanks to these masters soccer teams for such an initiative in our communities, may they continue with this generosity.

This shows how important a role football can play in our society and those with a long memory will agree with TOUCHLINE that this is the same sport that has played a significant role in the birth of freedom in this country.

TOUCHLINE challenges other master’s soccer teams to participate in community projects like those that have started. It is a fact, masters soccer teams one way or the other, are people who are working, or holding top positions in their respective companies, businesses, or professions.
