Alleged cemetery serial rapist to appear in court

A 48-year-old alleged serial rapist is set to appear briefly at Vanderbijlpark Magistrate court today, February 23.

VANDERBIJLPARK – This is after he was arrested on February 13, on charges of rape, housebreaking, theft, and intimidation.

The man was arrested after he raped a 13-year-old in Sharpeville.

On the day of his arrest, at about 18:00, a 13-year-old was from a tuck shop when she was attacked by the suspect, threatened with a knife, and raped, and the suspect fled the scene.

Following the incident, police were called and a manhunt was conducted after which a 48-year-old suspect was arrested.

A suspect identification parade was conducted, and four graveyard victims were able to positively identify the suspect.

On February 16, the suspect appeared before the court and was remanded in custody for further Police Investigations.
