Local football administrator joins Botswana Football Association

"Botswana is one of the countries that take football very seriously and I have been following their league."

SEDIBENG.- Senzo Mbatha (formerly Mazingisa) was been appointed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Botswana Football Association recently. This Boipatong-born football administrator has established himself as one of the best football administrators to have come not only in Sedibeng, but in South Africa.

Mbatha joined Botswana Football Association after he quit Tanzanian Young Africans where he enjoyed success with the club last year celebrating a treble. Initially, Mbatha joined Simba as the CEO in 2019 before he crossed the floor to Young Africans. He has made a name for himself in the East African country and now he has started a new chapter with Botswana Football Association. Mbatha has made a commitment to improve the standard of football in Botswana.

Mbatha’s rise to stardom as a football administrator was when he was the Orlando Pirates administrator and the club went on to also win a treble. As if this is not enough, Mbatha also joined the now-defunct Platinum Stars and under his leadership, the club enjoy success.

No doubt, Mbatha future looks great and many believe he is a potential candidate to be SAFA President considering his knowledge of African football.  Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Mbatha said it is a great honour to be appointed as the CEO of the Botswana Football Association.

“I am honoured and humble at the same time to be part of this ambitious organization and I’m going to do my level best to improve the standard of football in this country. Look, what I like about people here is that they are passionate about football,” said Mbatha.

Mbatha started his football career with the now defunct Boipatong Real Rangers FC when the club made history, reaching BobSave Last 16. He played alongside Papi Zothwane, Solomon Mathe, Lungisane Ndlele to mention but a few.
