Man found dead at Matiki dumping site

Boipatong police have launched an inquest case docket following the discovery of a body of and African male at Matiki dumping site.

BOIPATONG. – Police from Boipatong were summoned to Matiki dumping site recently following the discovery of a body of an African male aged 26.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela reports that on arrival police were taken to the scene by a security guard stationed at the dumping site.

“Police found an African male lying on his back, facing upwards. The security guard reported that she discovered the body when she came in around 07:00 .An ambulance was called to the scene and the man was declared dead by emergency personnel.”

Maxembela said the man was later identified as one of the recyclers working at the dumping site.

Maxambela confirms that an inquest case docket has been opened, adding that a postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
