Missing woman found at a correctional facility

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela has urged women to be honest with their family members about their whereabouts as being dishonest can cause unnecessary panic to both family members and the community at large.

VEREENIGING. – A resident of Zone 12 Mannyeke Jane Motloung (43) who was reported missing last week by members of her family is alive and unharmed.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela, Motloung was found at a correctional facility after a missing person’s report was filed with the police in Sebokeng.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Maxambela said Motloung was arrested and detained on Tuesday, 04 March for failing to appear in court for a pending theft case earlier in the year.

Motloung left her home early in the morning on the day and told her family that she was attending a job interview in Vereeniging. Her brother Hlopheho Ramaisa said Motloung had not returned home on the day.

Maxambela said: “We would like to urge women to be honest with their family members about their whereabouts as being dishonest can cause unnecessary panic to both family members and the community at large.”

Ramaisa said: “I received a call from a family member saying that my sister had been found in Vereeniging. I can confirm that she is indeed safe and unharmed.”
