Dramatic hijack results in arrests in Evaton

While they were driving, they bumped a vehicle (on the way) and continued driving until the vehicle they were driving was involved in an accident.

EVATON. – Numerous suspects have been arrested following a dramatic hijacking in Evaton last Friday.

It is said that at around 14:00 a complainant parked his vehicle, an MP200 Nissan bakkie, next to his shop in Evaton North, and when he came out of his shop he went to the vehicle where he saw two men standing next to it. While busy focusing on the two, he saw another man coming from another direction holding a beer bottle, other suspects also joined and pointed the complainant with a firearm, and instructed him to open the vehicle.

Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Thulisile Msibi said that the suspects got into the vehicle and drove away with the complainant inside.

“They then started to search him (the vehicle owner) and took money from him. While they were driving, they bumped a vehicle (on the way) and continued driving until the vehicle they were driving was involved in an accident on Welgevonden Road and they could not drive it any further. The suspects exited the car, ran away, and left the victim there.”

The suspects were immediately traced and arrested.
