Unlicensed firearms and ammunition seized during weekend operations by police

The Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu applauded all the stations for ensuring that unlicensed firearms are removed from communities. All arrested suspects will appear before various Magistrate's Courts in the district.

VEREENIGING. – Police in Sedibeng District embarked on weekend operations, performing police visibility and Vehicle Control Point (VCP) stop and searches that yielded excellent results.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Gertrude Makhale says: “Our members from various police stations in the district managed to arrest illegal immigrants and suspects found in possession of dagga.”

Makhale adds that all liquor outlets operating illegally were closed by police.

“Furthermore, police nabbed three suspects for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.”
