MIDVAAL. – Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) Mayor Peter Teixeira will on Wednesday, 03 May launch a youth engagement campaign dubbed ‘Buang Batjha’ at Lakeside Estate Community Hall, Ward 6.

The campaign will cater to young people belonging to all 15 wards in MLM. Buang Batjha, which translates to ‘the youth speak’, is a campaign initiative led by the mayor and aims to actively involve young people in discussions surrounding the pressing issues they face.

Young people will be allowed to present solutions to the socioeconomic challenges they face, such as poverty, substance abuse, and unemployment.

The listening campaign will run until the end of June 2023 through public engagements that will be conducted every Wednesday at 17h00 in a different Ward.

Teixeira says: “We encourage young people to take advantage of this opportunity to come and engage us. Listening to our people is non-negotiable. The youth are the leaders of tomorrow, they must have a voice in the country’s future and development,”
