Sedibeng Pageant entrants donate 7000 shoe pairs during charity drive

The Sedibeng Pageant was established in 2022 by Suryn van der Merwe and Thando Morabe with the vision of bringing communities together.

MIDVAAL. – This year, Sedibeng Pageant contestants have gone above and beyond to make a visible impact in and around communities in Sedibeng District. This is after they collected 7000 pairs of preloved shoes during their charity drive on 7 May.

The shoes were handed over to the Helplift Network Vaal Triangle, Laerskool Voorwaarts, and Laerskool Republiek. The finalists also took part in the annual photo shoot at Rivierplaas in Meyerton.

The Sedibeng Pageant was established in 2022 by Suryn van der Merwe and Thando Morabe with the vision of bringing communities together.

Morabe says: “Part of our mission as Sedibeng Pageant is to teach young ones to adults the responsibility of caring and giving back to the community. As a result, we as directors have listed giving back to the less privileged as a pre-requisite to becoming Mr, Miss, and Mrs. Sedibeng.”

The Sedibeng Pageant contestants collected over 7000 shoes for a charity drive recently.

Morabe states that the results of the charity drive showed a heartwarming response from all the finalists.

“Thanks to the support of 30 sponsors, the winners will receive prizes to the value of over R300 000 and the coveted title. The Sedibeng Pageant provides a platform for people of all backgrounds and communities to unite and make a positive impact,” she said.
