Local artist nominated for top awards

SEDIBENG. – Nhlanhla Ngonelo (22), popularly known as ‘The Mover’ in the music circles is in the running for top awards in the Mzansi Arts and Media Awards (MAMA23) and the Great Time Magazine Awards (GTMA23).
Ngonelo is a finalist in the awards under the category of best upcoming artist.
He was also nominated in 2022 for the MAMA22, under the category of best hip-hop artist.

Ngonelo told Sedibeng Ster that he started music in 2020 during the lockdown because there was nothing he was doing. He had already started writing music in high school and the first song he recorded is titled ‘Prayer’ which made it to the top lists on local radio stations such as Thetha, Lekoa, and Sedibeng FM. It also made it to the playlist of KCA and Siyathutuka radio stations in Kwa-Zulu Natal.

He is not only a performing artist, he is also a photographer, a content creator, a promoter, a songwriter, a videographer, and an actor amongst other things.
“I have shared the stage with Assessa, AB Crazy, Flex Rabanyane, Speeka, Leqhwa, Shaka Moshweshwe, Ntombela, Boss Jean, Dj Switch, Lord Script, F-eezy.
Ngonelo is inspired by Andile “Anzo” Ngubeni, Sjava, and Disnai Dlamini.
“I do music because I believe it heals, and I want to inspire people to change their lives. With my music, I want them to heal while they listen, and find their way in life.”
