SHARPEVILLE – He comes from a musically inclined family and now turns heads in and around the Vaal.

Max Da DJ’s journey is a testament to his dedication, creativity, and relentless pursuit of excellence.

Hailing from Sharpeville in the Vaal, Moeketsi Phatsoane is a popular Disc Jockey, captivating audiences with a distinct blend of genres and an unquenchable passion for music.

The 30-year-old is not just another artist on the turntables, he is a trailblazer who has taken the DJing world by storm, infusing his sets with a wide-ranging mix of hip-hop, urban beats, R&B, pop, and afrobeat.

Max’s musical journey started in 2015 when fate intervened, and he took the wheel as a DJ for his artist friends, little did he know that this crucial moment would be the catalyst for a life-changing passion.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Max shared his story.

“In 2015 my artist friends didn’t have a Dj in one of their gigs, I decided to play a set for them and my life changed forever. As soon as I pressed the play button on that first track and watched the crowd respond, I was hooked to the turntables,” he said.

“What hooked me was the way music has an incredible power to unite people and create unforgettable experiences that just blew my mind. It didn’t take long for me to realize that DJing wasn’t just a hobby for me anymore but an obsession,” he said.

Max continued his journey and dedicated effort to practice and refine his craft.

“The more gigs I played, the more I knew deep down inside that this was what I wanted to do with my life and share my love for music and make people dance their hearts out and create good vibes,” he said.

Looking ahead, Max Da DJ’s aspirations extend beyond personal success.

He envisions inspiring a new generation of artists, especially in his community, and leaving a lasting legacy as one of the greatest DJs to emerge in Mzansi.

“I want to be one of the best DJs in the country, even if I’m no longer in this world, I should always be remembered as the ‘BEST’ to ever do it.,” he said.

Asked what sets him different from other popular Djs, Max said his skill to blend different music makes him prevalent.

“I believe what sets me apart from other upcoming DJs is my diverse taste in music and ability to seamlessly blend different genres together. Growing up, I was exposed to various musical styles, from classical hip hop which has helped me shape up my musical palette, this enables me to curate diverse, unexpected sets that truly take an audience on a journey,” he said.
