Mayor welcomes FAN to Residensia Secondary

Radebe used his welcoming address to motivate learners to aim high in order to reach success. Radebe urged students to work hard, not for anybody else but for themselves.

SEBOKENG. – The Mayor of Emfuleni Local Municipality, Sipho Radebe had the pleasure of welcoming the Father A Nation (FAN) Director, Craig Wilkinson, and a delegation from the Danish Embassy at Residensia Secondary School on Wednesday, October 1.

Radebe used his welcoming address to motivate learners to aim high in order to reach success.
Radebe urged students to work hard, not for anybody else but for themselves.

“There are many people who studied at this school and have today made names for themselves.
I urge you to work diligently and go the extra mile so that one day you can become the ministers, ambassadors, and mayors of this world.”

Leader Facilitator Sydney Madibo says, “FAN is a non-profit company that provides nation-building solutions to challenges such as gender-based violence, toxic masculinity, fatherlessness, and the devastating impact these challenges have on our communities. We set out to provide training programs to communities on how to fight GBV, live with positive and healthy masculinity, and provide leadership and mentorship to those who need it most.”

Madibo said FAN has sought the assistance of the Danish Embassy in rolling out the training sessions for learners to teach them how to live with positive masculinity and free themselves from the shackles of abuse. He further stated that learners will be exposed to a day of fun, learning, and thought-provoking discussions and conversations.

The Danish Embassy Ambassador in SA, Elsebeth Sondergraad says they are working together with FAN to deal with matters of gender-based violence in the country.
“We believe that everyone should be treated equally. You need to know that you are the future. I look forward to our engagement”

She reiterated that it was important for men to know that when they are being supportive and show their emotions it does not make them weak but instead makes them masculine.
