Stokvel members warned against robbers
"It is heartbreaking to hear in the media that organisations have been robbed of their money.”
SEBOKENG. – It is the end of the year, and many robbers are out there to make easy money.
It is with this in mind that following their recent meeting in Lakeside, Sebokeng, last week to finalise the date and time for sharing money and groceries, the members of the Thusanang Social Club Account have issued a stern warning/awareness to stokvels, social clubs, societies, churches, and schools at this time of the year.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Thusanang Social Club Account Chairperson, Aubrey ‘The Great’ Moopeloa said that it is well known that during this time of the year, criminals are out to target organisations and institutions such as stokvels, burial societies, and club accounts.
Moopeloa said that this is because most of these organisations will be sharing their hard-earned/saved cash and criminals know beforehand as that information is either from within or they target any gathering where money is involved.

He adds that in some instances the club and bank signatories are followed on their way from the bank, until where money is shared by individual members.
“Whenever money is physically involved in any organisation, safety, and security must be priority and key. To avoid cash robbery, bank signatories members must organise with the bank management to deposit every share of each member into his or her bank account. It is heartbreaking to hear in the media that organisations have been robbed of their money,” Moopeloa warned.
