Efforts to keep schools safe continue

Maxambela explains that  search operations on school premises are conducted to ensure the safety of pupils as well as teachers.

BOIPATONG. – The Boipatong police working together with various law enforcement recently carried out the Safer School’s campaign in the form of a school search at the Lebohang Secondary School in Boipatong.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela reports: “On the day, a total of 20 classes from Grade 9 to 12 were visited and searched.”

Maxambela explains that  search operations on school premises are conducted to ensure the safety of pupils as well as teachers.

“Police working together with various stakeholders will continue to monitor our schools and also bring various programs for the benefit of young people through crime prevention.”

Meanwhile, a crime awareness campaign was carried out in Winnie’s Park on January 30. This was done through a door-to-door campaign led by Boipatong SAPS sector managers and the Social Crime Prevention team.

Maxambela says: “The campaign addressed crimes committed against women and children as well as contact crime in the area. Information was distributed through pamphlets.

The Boipatong SAPS station commander Lieutenant Colonel Mokoena encouraged the community to welcome Gender-based Violence brigades into their homes as they will be conducting visits through various sectors.
