Sedibeng Boxing Organisation hosts Boxing Tournament

“The tournament is part of ongoing boxing development to recruit more boy and girl children in the community."

SEBOKENG.- Sedibeng Boxing Organisation in conjunction with Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Sports Department will host a Boxing Tournament at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre in Sebokeng today, Saturday.

This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by the Thanduxolo Madikizela who said sparks will fly high. Madikizela told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the tournament will feature all the local boxing clubs.

“The tournament is part of ongoing boxing development to recruit more boy and girl children in the community. This is our commitment as Sedibeng Boxing Organisation and ELM Sports and Recreation to identify more talent.”

“We would like to invite all the boxing clubs in Sedibeng to be part of this initiative. However, the most important thing is to encourage the parents to support initiatives such as this to have a better society,” said Madikizela.

Sedibeng has been known for producing boxing champions in the past such as Carlton “Swing Carlie” Monnakgotla, Shole Mokoena, Shamba Mthikhulu, Baby Lux Khambule, Sexton “Wonderboy” Mabena, Lehlohonolo Potsane, Aaron Kabi and Elijah Mokone.

During those days, Vaal was a dominating force in the boxing arena. Madikizela believes Sedibeng is heading in the right direction to reclaim those golden days in South African boxing.
