Nqobile Maseko wants to be a professional boxer

"They thought boxing was for boys only but I told them it is also for girls."

SEBOKENG.- Nqobile Maseko (16) from Rus-ter-Vaal Boxing Club is a young female boxer who is eager to make a career out of boxing.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport during the Sedibeng Boxing Tournament at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre last Saturday, Maseko said she wants to make a name for herself in boxing to become a professional boxer. Maseko didn’t hesitate when she told Sedibeng Ster Sport that she did not doubt that boxing would take her to places.

“I love this sport and I want to become a professional boxer and I will work to achieve my dream. I started boxing back in 2022 and I enjoy each moment of it and fighting against boys helped me to develop strength. I’m passionate about boxing and my family and friends thought I was not serious when I told them I wanted to be a boxer.

“They thought boxing was for boys only but I told them it is also for girls and is part of a career like other sporting codes. However, my parents have accepted my choice and they are very supportive,” she told Sedibeng Ster Sport.

Maseko is convinced that boxing will take her to places and she will travel the world to represent South Africa at the international level.
