Gogo thanks DAWN for changing her life

Gogo Alina Moleleki (69) recounts her struggle with harassment, dating back to 2021, where her neighbours would verbally abuse her.

MIDVAAL. – 69-year-old Alina Moleleki from Sicelo expresses gratitude towards the Democratic Alliance Women Network (DAWN) for their assistance in serving her neighbours with a harassment letter and obtaining a protection order.

Moleleki recounts her struggle with harassment, dating back to 2021, where her neighbours would verbally abuse her. Despite her efforts to involve community authorities, the abuse persisted, causing immense distress.

She states: “This really made life unpleasant for me and left me hurting.”
Moleleki credits DAWN’s intervention for bringing peace into her life, expressing profound gratitude for their unwavering support throughout the ordeal.

She emphasises: “I’m so grateful because they traveled this journey with me and were there every step of the way. They saved my life, and now I no longer live in fear of being verbally abused.”

Refiloe Teixeira, leader of DAWN, acknowledges Moleleki’s plight, stating: “When we heard what was happening to Gogo Moleleki, we tried to intervene, but the harassment carried on even in our presence.”

Consequently, the decision was made to assist Moleleki in obtaining a protection order, involving the De Deur police station to serve the neighbours.

Teixeira further asserts DAWN’s commitment to extending similar support to anyone living in fear, emphasising the availability of help for abused women and children.

She concludes; “We want to assure them that there is help available for abused women and children. No one must ever be afraid to report such issues.”
