PALESA MOFOKENG: Riverside High School mourns the passing of slain teacher

Condolences pours in for murdered Riverside High School teacher, Palesa Mofokeng.

SEDIBENG. – Following the assassination of Riverside High School teacher, Palesa Mofokeng on Friday morning, the school issued a message of support to the family.

Mofokeng was gunned down in broad daylight in Vanderbijlpark, adjacent to Curro Private School and North West University on Currie Boulevard.

Since the unfortunate incident, messages of condolences have been pouring in on various social media platforms.

While many shared somber heartfelt messages, the school where Mofokeng was teaching, described the deceased as a dedicated teacher.

In a statement issued on their Facebook page, the school said “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of Palesa Mofokeng.”
“Mofokeng passed away yesterday morning unexpectedly. We at Riverside High School are in deep mourning as s Mofokeng was a very involved teacher at Riverside High School,” read the post.

According to the school, Mofokeng made an impact on every staff member that she came into contact with, and as one of the spectating coaches, there was not a learner who did she did not touch.

“Previous learners taught by her reached out and expressed their condolences to the school and the family while sharing what she meant to them not just as a teacher, but more a mother,” said the school.

Following the post on Facebook, hundreds of fellow teachers, former pupils, and friends took the opportunity to share their messages.

Police in Sedibeng have since opened a case of murder following the shooting and have pleaded with anyone who may have information on the incident to come forward.
