Rotary Club honours Hashtag Rekaofela Kasi for community service in Bophelong

From small changes in Bophelong to international recognition, Hashtag Rekaofela Kasi is thriving.

BOPHELONG – The Rotary Club of Vanderbijlpark recently honoured Simon Nkosi and his organization, Hashtag Rekaofela Kasi, with the prestigious Service Above Self Recognition certificate.

This accolade celebrates their solid commitment to community building and crime prevention in the Bophelong and Vaal.

For years, Nkosi has been an example of hope and transformation serving his community and working towards nurturing a safer, more unified society.

Under the expert management of Reabetsoe Senyolo Mkwane and the leadership of Klaas Mokhontshoana, the organization has stamped a place as a key force against crime and social challenges.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Nkosi said “Crime prevention is not solely the duty of law enforcers; it requires the active involvement of communities.”

Nkosi added that the organization focuses on education and empowerment as tools to tackle crime, providing young people with mentoring and tutoring programs designed to keep them on the right path.

“We have different programs that provide guidance and support to young individuals, empowering them to make informed decisions and stay away from criminal activities. Our youth leadership programs instill a positive mindset, encouraging them to become active citizens and contribute to their community,” Nkosi explained.

According to Nkosi, the Rotary Club’s recognition is a testament to the significant impact that he and his team have made.

Their work extends beyond crime prevention to offering practical support to those in need.

From assisting struggling families with funeral expenses to rebuilding homes for disaster victims, Hashtag Rekaofela Kasi embodies the spirit of community service.

Nkosi expressed his gratitude and pride upon receiving the award.

“This recognition shows that our efforts are being seen and appreciated. It confirms that we are making a difference and motivates us to continue our work. Being honoured by Rotary, an international organization, is incredibly meaningful. It validates our commitment and inspires our team to strive even harder,” he said.
