Two youngsters arrested with suspected stolen goods

A duo is behind bars and is set to appear in court following their arrest over the weekend on charges of possession of stolen property.

ZAMDELA – Two young men aged 17 were arrested on Saturday, August 24 when they were pounced on by Fezile Dabi District Highway Patrol members loading a road sign in their bakkie.

According to a police spokesperson, the two were arrested on the R57 towards Heilbron around 16:45.

Fezile Dabi District police spokesperson, Sergeant Josephine Rani said the two men were chased by police when they tried to evade arrest.

“Our officers were patrolling on the day when they witnessed the duo trying to load a road sign on their bakkie. When the suspect saw our officers, they sped off toward Sasolburg. Our officers gave chase until they managed to stop the bakkie. While interviewing the occupants, and searching their vehicle, they found another road sign in their bakkie,” she said.

Rani said the duo failed to explain why they had the road sign board.

“The road sign worth about R4500 and the white Isuzu bakkie were confiscated,” she said.
