VANDERBIJLPARK – Blessing Kotsokwane was brutally shot and killed outside a Vanderbijlpark tavern in CW 5.
The gruesome murder happened on Thursday evening, October 10 around 22:30 when the deceased was busy playing dice with a number of acquaintances.
Surfacing from the dark, his killer, wearing a balaclava opened fire at him at point blank.
While Blessing’s family is battling to come to terms with his death, many questions remain unanswered.
Speaking to Ster South, the grieving mother, Kgatlhiso Kotsokwane (46) shared the story of how she jumped when gunshots went out a stone’s throw away from their flats.
“I knew it was my son, right from the moment I heard gunshots. I called his phone and a friend answered, summoning us to the scene,” she said.
When Kgatlhiso arrived, she found Blessing’s lifeless body with a bullet wound.
“I stood with his body in disbelief, trying to wake him up, but he didn’t respond, as his body went cold in my arms,” she said.
Trying to detail the sorrow and the void left in her heart following her son’s heartless shooting, Kgatlhiso battled to find words.
“Words cannot express how I feel right now. Blessing was the only boy child I had. One cannot wake up from this bad dream,” she said.
Kgatlhiso said all she wished for her son was that his killer could be caught and be brought to book.
Vanderbijlpark police spokesperson, Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu confirmed that a murder case is being investigated.
“The motive behind the deceased shooting remains a subject of investigation. No suspect is been arrested as yet, however, investigations are underway,” he said.
Following a memorial service conducted outside Back of the Stars recently, Blessing was laid to rest at the weekend in Rustenburg, North West.
