Police bust car theft syndicate

Great teamwork and rapid response by police see gang stealing high-end cars behind bars.

FEZILE DABI – Police in the Vaal have closed in on a crime syndicate using advanced electronic devices to steal high-end vehicles.

Police from the Fezile Dabi Trio Task Team, Parys Crime Intelligence Gathering (CIG) unit, Sasolburg highway patrol, and Parys Traffic officials nabbed three males and one female after a daring chase on the R59 highway on March 7.

According to Fezile Dabi District Police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani, the suspects, aged between 28 and 72 years, were caught red-handed with a signal jammer and keys to a stolen Porsche Cayenne.

The suspects were heading toward Parys in a silver Mercedes-Benz linked to a stolen luxury vehicle case in Vereeniging, when officers cornered them.

The elite trio task team followed up on leads discovered during the vehicle search, tracking down the stolen Porsche Cayenne to Pretoria’s Blyde area.

The four suspects are expected to appear in the Parys Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of possession of signal jammers.
