Taxi boss gunned down outside Vanderbijlpark bar

Vanderbijlpark Police are on the hunt for three suspects after a shooting at MCafe over the weekend.

VANDERBIJLPARK – A 31-year-old taxi boss was killed in a hail of bullets outside MCafe Bar and Restaurant on March 15.

Police responded to a complaint of murder in Vanderbijlpark and on arrival found a male with gunshot wounds.

According to Gauteng provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, the victim was later certified dead on the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was shot by three suspects.

While the motive of the shooting is known, Masondo confirmed a murder investigation is underway.

“Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist with the apprehension of the suspects to please call the nearest police station or call crime stop on 08600 10111,” he said.

MCafe issued a statement following the shooting.

“An unfortunate tragic incident happened during the early hours of March 15 at our premises in the parking lot, where one of our loyal patrons tragically lost his life. We want to assure our patrons that their safety is our number one priority, and we’ll be improving our security to ensure that everything is safe in and around our establishment. We are working with law enforcement during their investigation and have taken the decision not to open Mcafe this weekend.”
