VEREENIGING – The Mekayla Memorial NPC in Vereeniging is in need of sponsors to support their upcoming soup drive which benefits over 400 community members in Leeuhof and surrounding areas.
For years, the initiative which seeks to provide support to vulnerable and disadvantaged people has been an event which many people in the community look forward to.
Speaking to Ster North, Founder Anne-marie Slabbert says: “This July, we are organizing a Soup Drive aimed at providing warm, nourishing meals to the elderly and children in our community who are most affected by poverty and food insecurity, especially during the cold winter months.
“Our goal is to serve 400 people with wholesome, homemade soup and bread, and to continue this effort throughout the winter season. To make this initiative successful, we are seeking kind-hearted sponsors who are willing to partner with through monetary donations.”
Alternatively, members of the community can help support the initiative can help by donating supplies including soup mix, vegetables, meat, and spices, Bread or rolls cups, bowls, and spoons, gas, noodles old clothes, shoes and blankets.
