VANDERBIJLPARK – Forget the usual blue.

On Friday, September 12, Vanderbijlpark cops ditched their uniforms and stepped out in bright traditional wear as they turned their station into a mini Heritage festival.

From Zulu dances that shook the ground, to sizzling pots of boerewors and pap, the men and women in blue proved they can throw a party just as well as they can fight crime.

Speaking to Ster South, police spokesperson Sergeant Sabelo Sigcu said the celebration was about unity and pride.

“Each member came dressed in garments representing their own culture. Different dances and food from our diverse backgrounds were on display, and it was a huge success,” he said.

The festive mood filled the station yard as cops sang, laughed, and celebrated South Africa’s “rainbow nation” spirit.

“To know where you are coming from determines your destiny. This was about honouring our roots and learning from one another,” Sigcu added.
