Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) says it is aware of criminals using fake job listings to solicit money from potential applicants, by fraudulently placing vacancy advertisements on various platforms and requesting payment to secure a job at the municipality.
The municipality has since reassured all job seekers applying for vacancies advertised by MLM, that the municipality will under no circumstances charge any recruitment fee when registering and applying for any of the advertised vacancies. This is to maintain the integrity of the recruitment process and to eliminate the exploitation of potential applicants.
“Any vacancy listing that is not on the official website of the municipality is considered fraudulent. Job seekers that are aware of any unofficial listings, have been requested to pay or have paid any fee when applying for a vacancy from Midvaal Local Municipality are urged to report such activities to the Anti-Fraud and Corruption email at
ethics@midvaal.gov.za.”
