BOPHELONG – He was last seen on January 2, when he left the house to collect rent money from his former tenant. A day later, he was discovered killed near the Joko Tea informal settlement with multiple stab wounds in his upper body.
His younger brother, Patrick Mofokeng, learnt of his brother’s demise on January 5, when neighbours shared details of General Mofokeng’s (46) brutal death and how he was discovered.
Ster recently wrote a story about an unidentified male found in a pool of blood on the Golden Highway over the weekend, following his ruthless killing.
“We were not staying together, although staying in the same township [Bophelong Extension 10]. Neighbours who knew him came to my house on Monday to tell me about the horrifying news. I went to a local police station to find out what happened,” Mofokeng said.
“I was told to verify with Sebokeng Pathology Services, where I found my brother’s lifeless body. I was only allowed to see him on a screen,” he added.
Patrick said the passing of his brother came as a shock, and his family is struggling to come to terms with the ordeal.
“I’m scared for life. I didn’t think my brother would die in this manner,” he said,
“One can never find out the truth of what happened to him. It breaks my heart that he was killed in such a ruthless manner. We heard stories about his condition. However, I can assure you, many of these stories are just misleading.”
Patrick said he wishes to find justice for the killing of his brother.
“All I want to know is what led to him being killed. I hope justice will prevail. There were surveillance cameras where his body was found,” he said.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela has confirmed that a case of murder has been opened and investigations are underway.
