SEDIBENG.- The Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) announced today, Wednesday, that it has officially welcomed the establishment of its Safety Task Force.
The Safety Task Force, the MLM announced, is a dedicated unit created to combat crime and support the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Community Policing Forums (CPFs) in strengthening crime prevention efforts across the municipality.

The municipality further said that the establishment of this Safety Task Force is in line with the Executive Mayor, Peter Teixeira’s Mayoral undertaking of investing in the safety and security for all people of Midvaal.
“This is a true milestone for the municipality and reaffirms that the promise to invest in the safety and security of all people was not an empty one. The Safety Task Force currently consists of six highly trained safety officers with specialised skills in crime prevention and intelligence-led operations.”

The municipality had previously purchased two high-performance Ford Raptors, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including number plate recognition cameras connected to our control room and linked to the SAPS database.
“These resources will enable the Task Force to conduct visible patrols and provide operational support to SAPS and the broader security cluster, including Community Policing Forums, throughout Midvaal.”
The MLM further announced that since commencing operations in December, the Safety Task Force has already recorded notable successes.
“The team has assisted in arrests related to the possession of unlawful firearms, unlicensed ammunition, fraud involving false vehicle registrations, and illegal immigration. Midvaal remains committed to building safer communities and will continue to invest in initiatives that enhance the safety and security of all residents.”
