VANDERBIJLPARK – Energy, sweat, teamwork, and enjoyment were the order of the day as Sedibeng District Cluster hosted its annual Sports Day.
The games aimed to bring together members of the SAPS, law enforcement agencies, and community partners.
SAPS Station Commanders, Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union members, and Community Policing Forum (CPF) representatives from across the district came together for a day focused on fitness and unity.
Emfuleni Traffic and Sedibeng Community Safety also showed their support.
Cluster police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela said the day was all about keeping members healthy while building strong relationships.
“Wellness partners like Polmed, Virgin Active, Legal Wise, Capital Legacy, and Old Mutual played a big role by promoting health awareness and offering support services,” she said.
She added that the district takes member wellness seriously, with leadership ensuring the event is held every March.
The day kicked off with exciting endurance runs, including 10km, 8km, and 4km races.
Members later took part in group workouts and aerobics, creating a lively and fun atmosphere. Fitness co-ordinators were on hand to guide activities and keep everyone motivated.
Maxambela said the event is not just about exercise, but also about building teamwork among members who serve the community every day.
“The event showed how important it is to stay healthy while also strengthening the bond between members,” she said.
