SASOLBURG – A 22-year-old woman was caught walking the streets with a sling bag allegedly packed with property linked to an armed robbery.

She was arrested by members of the Fezile Dabi District Trio Task Team in Sasolburg on September 26.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani, officers were conducting patrols as part of Operation Shanela II when they received information about a woman allegedly carrying a stolen sling bag.

The team spotted a woman matching the description near Sasolburg SAPS at about 19:45.

Police searched the black sling bag she was carrying and found several items belonging to the robbery victim.

The recovered items included driver’s licences, identity documents, rewards cards, an iPhone, and car keys.

Rani said the woman is expected to appear soon at the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court.

She is facing charges of possession of stolen property and defeating the ends of justice.
