Woman arrested in Vereeniging for possession of counterfeit US Dollars
Mmeseipati Rosinna Xaba (50), appeared in the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 12 September 2022, following her arrest on charges of possession of counterfeit currency.
A woman in Vereeniging has been arrested on charges of possession of counterfeit currency.
Police spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramovha said an intelligence driven operation took place after Crime Intelligence received information about a suspect driving around with US Dollars in Vereeniging.
“A Mazda CX5 as per the description was spotted, stopped and searched along the road.”
“The resultant search uncovered about $ 48 000 US dollars which was later confirmed to be counterfeit. The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team has been seized with further investigation.”
The court has remanded Xaba in custody pending a formal bail application on Tuesday, 20 September 2022.
