On Wednesday, 28 September the municipality is experienced power outages in SE 2, SE 3 ,SE 4 ,SE 6 ,SE 7 , Mantevrede ,Vaal Mall, Vaal University of Technology, CE 6 , Powerville, President Hyper and parts of SE 1 ,SW 1 ,SW 2 ,SW 5.

According to Emfuleni Local Municipality this is due to a burnt 88 kV link at Vesco Substation.

The municipality confirmed on Thursday, September 29 that their technicians will commence charging the batteries in the control room followed by several system tests.

“Power supply will be restored once all the repairs and tests are completed.”

In a statement on Thursday ELM asked residents to note that no ETR can be shared at this stage however, for safety reasons, all electrical installations and connections must be treated as LIVE at all times.
