Two killed when bakkie crashes into tree

In a statement ER24 said a bakkie was seen smashed against a large tree, with two men trapped inside.

MEYERTON.- Two men believed to be in their 30s were killed when the driver lost control of his bakkie, causing it to crash into a tree off the Weilbach Road in Meyerton.

ER24 arrived on the scene after 22h00 on Sunday night to find the Midvaal Fire Services in attendance.

In a statement ER24 said a bakkie was seen smashed against a large tree, with two men trapped inside.

“The Midvaal Fire Services had to use specialised equipment to free the men from the vehicle.
Once released, medics assessed the men and found that both had already succumbed to their numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead.”
The details surrounding this incident are unknown but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
