Six injured, one critically after vehicle rear-ends stationary tanker

THREE RIVERS .- Six people were injured, one critically, two severely, after their vehicle rear-ended a stationary tanker on the R54 outside Three Rivers, Vereeniging.

The accident happened on Sunday afternoon.

ER24 paramedics were on the scene at around 15:00 today along with Midvaal Fire and Traffic Departments.

According to ER24 man in his 30s was found to have suffered critical injuries and was partially entrapped in the vehicle.

“Midvaal Fire assisted with extraction and the patient stabilised with Advanced Life Support interventions while an Emergency Medical Helicopter was activated to transport the man to hospital for further care.”

A 32-year-old female and a 40-year-old male were found to have suffered serious injuries. They too were stabilised before being transported to Sebokeng Hospital by ER24 for further care. One male who had suffered moderate injuries was treated and transported to Kopanong hospital by ER24 and two others, one male with moderate injuries and one female with minor injuries were treated and transported by another private service on scene. A child who was also in the vehicle, was assessed and found to be uninjured.”

Midvaal Traffic were on scene to investigate the cause of the stationary tanker and subsequent collision.
