“Extreme vandalism” forces Sharpeville library to close
VEREENIGING.- Vandals have struck again, forcing the temporary closure of Sharpeville library.
The library will be closed with effect from Monday, May 8 until further notice.
The Sports, Recreation, Arts & Culture, Libraries Information Services and Cemeteries (SRACLIS) said the closure is due to extensive vandalism of the facility overnight.
“Vandalism of public infrastructure is a crime and must be fought against by all citizens.”
In a statement Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) said it appreciates the public’s understanding and apologizes for any inconvenience cause.
Members of the public are invited to utilize alternative libraries in the vicinity.
