Dirty toilets a cause for concern at Vereeniging licensing office’s
The toilet facilities of the license office in Vereeniging are so messy that no one dares to use them.

“The FF Plus paid an overview visit to the license offices last week and came across the shocking scenes in the toilet facilities,” says FF Plus Councilor in Emfuleni, Gerda Senekal.
The public must make use of these facilities when they have to stand in queues for hours to renew driving or vehicle licences.
“The Emfuleni local municipality employs about 120 general workers who, among other things, are responsible for cleaning public toilet facilities, offices, parks, storm water ditches and more.
“Many of these workers have been unproductive for years because they have no cleaning agents or tools to do their work with,” said Senekal.
The workers earn a gross salary of R261 588 per year with benefits that include housing, pension and medical.
The FF Plus also visited the license offices two years ago. “We have requested the acting mayoral committee member for public works, Mako Hassan, to immediately attend to the decay. Nothing has improved in the meantime,” said Senekal.
On Friday, the FF Plus asked both Hassan and the acting director of public works, Erni Strydom, to immediately allocate funds to clean the public toilet facilities at the license offices and replace broken toilets and sinks.
