The accident happened on the R54 Balfour Road just outside Goeiehoek, Meyerton on Thursday night when a truck failed to stop and collided with a police vehicle and a 2nd vehicle that was initially pulled over by the police.

According to Community Emergency Response Team emergency services arrived at the scene around 23h00.

“The patients were assessed and found that two patients had moderate injuries, one patient had minor injuries, and unfortunately one of the police officers passed away due to his injuries.”

All patients were treated and transported to nearby facilities by different ambulance services.
