Bus rear-ends truck leaving twenty-seven injured

On closer inspection, medics found the driver lying trapped in his bus in a critical condition.

Twenty-seven people, including five children, were injured when a bus rear-ended a truck on the N3 in Heidelburg.

The accident occurred on Monday, July 3.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 06h37 to find other services already in attendance. A bus and truck had come to a stop in the emergency lane, ER24 said in a statement.
“On closer inspection, medics found the driver lying trapped in his bus in a critical condition. Twenty-six others had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.”
Rescue Services had to use specialised equipment to free the driver from the vehicle.

Once released, medics treated the patients and provided the driver with advanced life support before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
