DA wants answers about ELM service delivery
"It is unacceptable that residents have to suffer because of the ANC and its coalition's inability to provide even the most basic services. It shows disrespect to its residents"
The DA basic service team had a meeting with the Acting Head of Public Works this morning.
“The purpose of this meeting was to find a long-term solution to what is clearly an ongoing problem concerning the state of roads. Storm water systems which have either collapsed or are blocked in many areas add to the deterioration of roads and cause potholes everywhere,” says Cllr Dady Mollo, Emfuleni Central Constituency Political Head.
They further called for answers on the following:
* The urgent need for a professional call center to be actioned as a priority.
* Electricity theft and loss that still a major concern.
* Sewage that runs freely down streets.
* The loss of clean water that also runs freely down some streets and costing tax payers of this municipality more than a billion in water loss that is unaccounted for even before reaching its residents.
* Household waste that is not collected regularly, illegal dumpsite caused by municipality’s failure to collect refuse, forcing residents to live in unhygienic and unhealthy conditions. A clear plan must be provided to address this.
“We want to reassure the Emfuleni communities that the DA councillors are doing their best to get the ANC-controlled municipality to address the suffering of residents.
“The community of Emfuleni deserve better and the DA will continue to put pressure on the ANC lead municipality,” cllr. Mollo concluded.
