Are CW areas the hunting ground of a serial killer?

Rumors that there is a serial killer on the hunt in the CW areas with allegedly 11 victims already, and one who also removes the eyes of his victims as bloody trophies, have sown panic among residents. Is this the work of a serial killer?

Not at all! According to the SA Police Service in Sedibeng.

This despite the fact that there are indeed six murders – including two women – currently being investigated in the CW areas that were committed between the beginning of July and the end of August this year.

The six murders are now being continuously investigated by the SAPS.

Sedibeng SAPS spokesperson. Capt. Funda emphasized that the eyes of these six murder victims were not removed.

The police statement was provided this week after intensive inquiry after reporting by Retha Fitchat in Vaalweekblad last week – and who revealed that two women had already been murdered in CW areas recently.

Panic about a possible serial killer who would have already had 11 victims on his record, caused social media to abound with rumors and sowed panic in the CW communities.

So intense was the panic on social media that councilor Gerda Senekal (FF Plus) – whose offices in Faraday Boulevard would fall within any possible serial killer’s hunting ground – is now demanding that the SAPS communicate about the matter as quickly as possible.

“The community is currently living in fear and we demand that the SAPS take the public and media into their confidence as soon as possible to inform the community accurately,” Senekal told Vaalweekblad this week.

Capt. Funda did confirm certain information about the six known victims to Vaalweekblad.

To date, the six victims include two white women, one white man and three black men.

Five bodies were discovered in the CW areas within a 2 km radius of each other between the beginning of July and the end of August, while one woman died in hospital after being attacked in the same area.

Five of the murdered were attacked between 22:00 and the early hours of the morning.
