Equestrian sport is alive and well in the Vaal

The Vaal boasts several horse riding schools and has produced top riders over the years.

Equestrian sport has a rich and diverse history, dating as far back as the ancient Olympic Games when chariot racing was one of the main spectacles as of 680 BC, and the inclusion of Jumping, Dressage and Eventing in 1912 following the revival of the modern Olympic Games in 1896.

“It is not an easy sport, it takes a lot of dedication by the riders to ensure they are successful in their discipline.

“In equestrian events, even at the Olympics, men and women compete head-to-head. It is believed that as much as 66% of the almost 30 000 riders registered to compete internationally are female,” says Debs Moore of SANESA Sedibeng.

The Sedibeng Regional Branch is the smallest one in the Gauteng area but they are proud of the achievements of their riders.

If your school or child is interested in joining SANESA, they would like to hear from you.

So what IS SANESA?
