SEDIBENG.- With elections on the horizon, political party leaders and volunteers have been tirelessly working on the ground for the past three weeks, aiming to persuade communities to vote for their respective parties. The emergence of the Umkhonto Wesizwe Party (MKP) has sent ripples through other political parties, particularly the ruling party.

Currently, the MKP appears to be the party posing a significant challenge to the ruling party, based on their current campaign efforts. Since its establishment in December last year, this party founded by former President Jacob Zuma has been making headlines.

However, most of the community members interviewed by Sedibeng Ster, especially the elderly, express confidence that the ANC will retain its power. A survey conducted by Sedibeng Ster revealed that the majority of elderly individuals intend to vote for the ruling party. On the other hand, young people have mixed feelings about which party (or parties) they will vote for, particularly given the high unemployment rates, especially among recent graduates.
