SHARPEVILLE.- The Lekoa Athletics Club will host Annual Hero’s Cross-Country League scheduled to take place at George Thabe Stadium in Sharpeville on Saturday at 12:00.
This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sports by Andile Ncala who is the organiser of this event which is aimed at honouring yesteryear athletes such as Titus Mamabolo, Hosea Tjale, Ernest Seleke, Stephen Morake, Mathews Temane, Ernest Tjela, Ben Madumise, Josiash Tungwane and John Morapedi to mention but few.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Ncala said these above mentioned athletes inspired the current generation of athletes to work hard in order to be the best athletes in the country.
However, Ncala was concerned with the lack of support from the parents especially in the community. He believes this is the biggest challenge in the community, to support their children who participate in sports.

“Good talent is wasted because parents are not supportive enough when it comes to their children’s talent. Many talented youngsters end up in (doing) drugs because the only support they get from their children is in the form of money. Sport is the most important tool to shape our society, especially our children. I want to appeal to all the Sharpeville community to come in big numbers to support this event. This is an annual event that we host every year here at George Thabe Stadium. The only things that we ask from community and business people in the area is support,” Ncala concluded.
