Water supply interruption update: Repairs underway

The municipality said it has availed 15 water tankers and as a result, hospitals, clinics and old age homes will be supplied first before attending to the remainder of the communities.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Emergency repairs on a leaking concrete pipeline supplying Vanderbijlpark Reservoirs are still underway.

This was according to Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) in a public notice on its Facebook page Wednesday afternoon.

ELM said technicians have indicated that the work will take 30 hours to complete.

“Affected consumers at Bedworthpark, Sharpeville, Vanderbijlpark, Tshepiso, Boipatong, Bophelong, Bophelong Extensions, Bonanne and surrounding Agricultural Holdings are notified that the ELM has 15 water tankers available and as a result, hospitals, clinics and old age homes will be supplied first before attending to the remainder of the communities.”

The municipality apologised for any inconvenience.

This is how Facebook users reacted to the public notice:

Margaret Van Rooyen said: “Always repairing, never maintaining”.

Nthabiseng Inno Letsie said: “So no update? How far along are we regarding this 30-hour thing? Also, where are the water tankers?”

Francois Steenberg said Emfuleni Local Municipality why are you always reactive and never proactive? Useless bunch you are!

Mthokozisi Twayi asked, wait y’all still supply us with water? What about waste removal? The most inefficient municipality in SA, Sies!!!
