Vanderbijlpark. – A brilliant young lady started a project dedicated to helping underprivileged girls feel special on the night of their matric farewell. Bokamoso Motsiri (15) from Hoërskool Suiderlig currently in Grade 10 aims at nurturing the inner strength and self-esteem of underprivileged girls.
The ‘Fairytale Project’ is an initiative dedicated to assisting matric girls feel like princesses on one of the most important nights of their lives by supplying them with a gorgeous matric farewell dress and accessories.
The main aim of the project is to give those young women a sense of dignity, self-worth and self-confidence that they might not otherwise experience. In supporting these young women, the project is promoting a sense of inclusivity and compassion in Motsiri’s community.

Due to the financial constraints in acquiring an outfit, many leaners do not attend their matric farewell.
“This initiative helps to bridge the gap between different socio-economic groups, fostering understanding and empathy among all members of the community. It also encourages volunteerism and community involvement, as local businesses and individuals come together to donate dresses, accessories and services,” Motsiri said.
The Fairytale Project accepts evening or ball gowns as well as bridesmaid dresses, shoes and accessories.
According to Motsiri styling services, professional hairstylists, makeup artists and nail technicians willing to volunteer their time and expertise to style the girls for their special night are also welcome.
“By meeting these needs the project can provide an unforgettable experience for these young girls, helping them to celebrate their achievements and look forward to a bright future with confidence,” said Motsiri.
Motsiri pleads with readers for any contribution to make this project a success.
“Our current sponsors who would like to remain unnamed at the moment have offered to provide a recreational area for us to help the girls with hair, makeup and everything to get them ready for their matric dance.”
Anyone who wishes to donate, or any girl who needs assistance with their matric dance in Vaal Triangle area can contact Motsiri on 071 199 1913.
