Four suspects arrested for livestock theft in Zamdela

Four suspects arrested for stock theft are expected to appear in court.

ZAMDELA – Four suspects were arrested in Zamdela, Sasolburg over the weekend for livestock theft.

According to Fezile Dabi District police spokesperson, Sergeant Josephine Rani, on Saturday, September 14, their Highway Patrol Relief C members were patrolling when they received a tip-off regarding a truck suspected to be involved in stock theft.

Rani said their members swiftly attended to the information, and the truck was spotted driving on the R57 towards Sasolburg.

“The truck was stopped, and it had four male occupants. The team searched the truck and discovered 13 cattle in the back of the truck,” she said.

Rani added that upon investigation, the suspects could not provide any documentation to be in possession of the cattle and had no satisfactory answer.

“The quartet was arrested on the spot. The suspects aged between 22 and 48 are set to appear before court soon,” she said.
