SHARPEVILLE.- The Sharpeville police are investigating a possible murder after a man’s body was discovered at the Tshepiso Phase 3 informal settlement on Tuesday.

According to Sharpeville Police Spokesperson Constable Busisiwe Sango officers responded to a call from a witness who had gone to the deceased’s residence to collect clothing. Upon arrival, the witness noticed the door was slightly opened.

According to reports the lifeless body of the deceased was found lying on the floor. The witness immediately reported the matter to the police.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, a man, had sustained gunshot wounds.

The Sharpeville Police are urging members of the community who may have any information regarding the incident to come forward. “We appeal to anyone with information to contact the police on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS app, available on any smartphone. All information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality,” said Constable Sango.

Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
