Community apprehends murder suspect

SEBOKENG – The acting station commander of Sebokeng SAPS, Colonel Stofina Mofokeng, has hailed the community of Zone 24 for securing the apprehension of a murder suspect. Angry community members were prompted to go on a hunt for the suspect after 32-year-old Paul Lehoko was stabbed to death, allegedly by a man he had exchanged words with on November 3.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane explains that the gruesome incident unfolded after the deceased was approached by a group of men in possession of dangerous weapons.

“The deceased was stabbed after an argument ensued between him and one of the men. He sustained stab wounds on the upper body.”
“On November 5, angry community members effected a citizen’s arrest after tirelessly searching for him. They subsequently called the police who were able to take the man into custody.”

Mofokeng extended her appreciation to the community: “I appreciate the efforts shown by the community to Sebokeng SAPS. The plea to stop taking the law into our hands was executed. I am proud of Zone 24 community members for displaying such outstanding teamwork.”

Mokhachane said a murder case docket is open for investigation, citing that the suspect would soon appear in court.
