Police dismantle a counterfeit establishment

Authorities seized a large quantity of counterfeit Lucky Star pilchards and printing equipment used to alter expiration dates.

MEYERTON.- Seven illegal immigrants were arrested following a major raid on counterfeit goods in Eland Street, Daleside.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said this was a joint operation between Crime Intelligence from Zamdela Sasolburg and SAPS Kliprivier.

Police seized counterfeit goods.

According to Sibeko the owner of the establishment remains at large.

Police are investigating a case of Contravention of the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act (Act 54 of 1972), Section 17(c), possession of suspected stolen property, and Contravention of the Immigration Act, Act 13 of 2002.

The arrested suspects will appear in court soon.
